After School Enrichment Program
Sand Sisters LA’s Girl Powerful™ after school enrichment program is offered in partnership with school districts, independent schools, community centers and fellow nonprofit organizations. The program is based on socio-emotional learning, movement and female unity. We give our Sand Sisters the tools to gain self-esteem, build character and develop a strong sense of self, all while making friends and having fun.

After School Enrichment Program - Sand Sisters LA

Each 8-10 week Girl Powerful program is run during after school hours in trimesters (Fall/Spring/Winter). Through a guided journal, each lesson is based on a positive word of the day (self-love, friendship, trust, respect, etc.) which is tied to kid friendly P.E. style games and/or craft. Our program is designed to keep each student happy, involved and active. Through fitness and creative arts activities, children also build new friendships and grow as unique individuals. Our mission is to have every Sand Sister leave our program feeling Girl Powerful - strong, confident, intelligent and one-of-a-kind.

“You have taught me to love myself just the way I am and I have confidence in everything I do! You have inspired me to have faith in me and all the other girls in this amazing world. I learned that you can be yourself and you don’t have to be afraid to show your emotions.” - Sand Sister, 6th grade

Girl Powerful Workshops

Sand Sisters Los Angeles partners with nonprofit organizations who help children and teens love themselves. At a dedicated site, girls are empowered to practice self-love and self-care through self-esteem building, movement and sisterhood. Conversations are guided by a Girl Powerful worksheet, craft and game. Topics are centered around confidence building, healthy mindsets, setting goals, and building healthy friendships. The girls not only have a fun day with us, they become stronger, braver and inspired to believe in themselves.

"Girl Powerful offers girls the guidance and support needed for positive self-discovery. Like a best friend who sees only the best in you, Girl Powerful gives every girl the tools she needs to see the best in herself." - Brooke F., K-5 educator and mother

Self Love Club for Women

Sand Sisters Los Angeles believes in community building and connection. We host quarterly Self Love Club events for women to gather, self-reflect, connect and be hands-on. Events are centered around self-care and/or movement. Past partners include TOMS, Sweaty Betty, The Created Co., Barry’s Bootcamp, SoulCycle, Superba Food + Bread, BoxUnion, CycleBar, RYU and more.

"I want to thank you...Women need a safe space, a supportive and encouraging place where we can be open, honest and raw. It [the workshop] was beautiful." - Self Love Club attendee

Our program’s response from the schools, students and parents has been positive and we are spreading our program to other cities and states. If you are an educator and would like program details to bring Girl Powerful to your school or community, please email [email protected]

"I cannot say enough good things about the Sand Sisters organization. We started through our school where they provided an after school program that was designed to help young ladies grow to be strong, confident, loving humans. Since then we have participated in everything from their beach camps to mentoring with successful female professionals. I am constantly amazed at the care, love, and effort that the Sand Sisters put into every event they host and manage." - Stephen B., Sand Sister Parent
